During walks around postcode area 4101, I became quite interested in the greenspaces I caught narrow glimpses of, between homes and buildings. These less-used and awkward spaces accumulate materials, fence lines, overgrown herbs, banana stands, shade loving ferns. At times I could see through to streets behind and borrowed landscape canopies. I began to note the subtle variations in plant species surrounding older homes and buildings, compared to newer developments. These greenspaces feel quite independent – able to flourish or survive on their own terms with little intervention.
